Go green by buying synthetic diamonds

Jan 19

Jewelry has been a big staple in fashion for a very long time. People love getting sparkly items that they can show off and feel like they are fashionable and ahead of the curve. People buy jewelry for many different reasons. One of the most popular types of jewelry is gems. Many people love gems because they are sparkly and come in a variety of different colors and cuts. A very popular type of gem is the diamond. Diamonds are well known around the world for being extremely rare and worth a great amount of money.

When people turn to diamonds it is because they want something that is very shiny and beautiful to look at. Diamonds are often featured in many different types of jewelry such as necklaces and rings. However, one of the main problems with diamonds is the fact that they cost a great amount of money to obtain. This is when many people turn to synthetic diamonds in a bid to get the exact shimmer and sparkle at a fraction of the cost. But what some may not know is that buying synthetic diamonds may actually help save the environment.

Making diamonds takes a great deal of time and money. One of the most interesting things about the process is that large machines are used to compress carbon to make the jewels. This can put out a great deal of unnecessary debris and fumes that cause some problems for nature. This is why many have taken to purchasing synthetic diamonds, which differ only slightly to regular diamonds. Buying synthetic diamonds is a great way to get the sparkle and shimmer that you want without having to spend great amounts of money or hurt the environment.

Many people love gemstones because they help to present an air of sophistication or hold a great deal of value to the wearer. Often, gemstones are chosen because they have qualities that are desirable such as a specific color or shine. A very popular type of gemstone is the diamond. Diamonds are well known for their sparkle as well as their value and many people strive for these jewels because of the many qualities they possess. However, because of the price many people put off buying them and instead opt for something nearly exactly the same. Synthetic diamonds are a way for people to get the sparkle and shine that a diamond provides, without having to sacrifice their bank account or the environment to do so.

About Environmentally Friendly Cars

Nov 11

If you live in a small town where there is no public transportation, you understand the importance of having a car. It lets you get to Point A to Point B relatively quickly. Walking or riding the bike may not be an option for the items that a person needs to carry out his daily life, although most towns of a few thousand people will have grocery and drug stores to meet the population’s needs.

If you are lower middle class or working poor, you may even want an environmentally car, even though most of the newer environmentally cars are out of your price range, but in this case, the best step is to get cars with smaller engines that will also save on your gasoline costs.

Finding a good, environmentally friendly car is often a challenge. Environmentally conscious magazines sell kits to convert a car to bio diesel, ethanol and other fuels. The kits, as long as the buyer installs them properly work. Using such kits requires that a person have mechanical competence and a lot of time to do the conversion.

For now, those who are in a situation where they do not have to wait for an environmentally friendly vehicle to enter their price range can drive hybrid cars, electric cars, or cars that get high gas mileage. The hybrid, as long as acceleration is not a concern for the owner is the most viable option. Hybrids contain two drive shafts and can switch between all-electric and all-gasoline operation. During normal driving, the car will switch trains depending on which drive shaft can handle the tasks asked of it more efficiently. Users who run a hybrid correctly never have to plug it into an electrical outlet.

Electrical cars have their own problems. While they do not produce emissions, they do not really save fossil fuels. They indirectly burn a different type in most areas of the United States. All electric vehicles will most likely indirectly use coal, unless a person lives near an electric dam, a nuclear power plant, a wind farm, or a solar panel. In the end, electric cars are not quite as environmentally friendly as most consumers believe they were. Options that make the cars more environmentally friendly are in development, but it is best to hold off for now. Limited range has also hurt the sale of the purely electric vehicle.

The most viable option for the moment is to find a car that has good city and highway mileage and passes the California emissions test. You will still emit carbon dioxide into the air, but you will emit less. High gas mileage means you will need less fuel to get back and forth to work, church, school and shopping.

Most Useful Green Gadgets

Oct 12

In a world full of computer technology, it is easy to ignore products which are safe for our Earth. Many people tend to believe that eco-friendly products are useless junk, but in reality, there are many useful green gadgets available. The following is a list of 5 solar gadgets I have found to serve great purpose.

1. Solar Powered Backpacks:

Save some money on your energy bill by using solar power to charge the items you use the most, such as your cell phone. Simply walk around in the sun with a solar powered backpack on and charge your electronics. It doubles as a great camping companion for those who absolutely need to have their cell phones at all times or for emergency situations such as a hiking accident.

2. Solar Shower

A Solar Shower is a perfect take-along for a long camping trip. Simply heat up the water pack by exposing it to the sun for a little while and you no longer needs to worry about cold showers during your trip. You can also use it for washing your dishes or when an emergency situation occurs at home that does not allow you to use hot water.

3. Solar powered Attic Fan

The attic can easily be the hottest room in your home considering that heat rises. Stop wasting energy and invest in a solar powered attic fan, which is installed similarly to a solar panel by attaching a few brackets to your roof. Some solar powered attic fans even have thermostats which allow you to choose the most comfortable temperature for your home.

4. The USB EcoStrip

Did you know that many appliances still use energy while they are turned off and still plugged in? Home computers tend to use most of the energy in our homes. Investing in an EcoStrip power strip and surge will save money on electric bills while also helping the environment. The EcoStrip works by shutting down all items which are plugged into the sockets once a computer itself has been shut down, preventing energy discharge from the items.

5. Solar Powered Christmas Lights

Relatively inexpensive and very cost saving, solar powered Christmas lights are a great gadget for the holiday season. With all of the electronics we typically use on a daily basis, it makes sense to try and alleviate some of the damage done to the Earth and our budgets during the holiday season by purchasing such a product.

You can be sure that using a green gadget will be useful and cost saving as well as environmentally friendly. There are many great green products available other than the ones highlighted in this article. It is up to you to commit to going green!

Eco Friendly Clothing

Sep 29

In the process of going green many are turning to Eco-friendly clothing to help reduce waste and lower the pollution levels. Clothing is a great way to impact the movement as we all will need them for many years to come. You can rest assured that the clothing is chemical free and not produced in sweat factories where workers are being exploited. This clothing is normally made of recycled and natural materials and that is a big step in advancing the continued attempt of going green. It is a huge movement and is making a great impact on our environment. So many are involved in the green movement that the clothing manufacturing businesses are booming. We can feel proud that our choice to wear organic clothing will and does make a difference. We can be setting examples for others by explaining our choices and what the benefits are. Trying to save the earth is something most people are proud to be involved in. Young people are finding some very stylish clothing produced out of these natural fibers and recycled materials!

People are saying eco-friendly clothing feels very comfortable next to their skin. Buyers keep returning because of the quality as well as participating in the efforts of going green. Just by wearing these clothes shows the impact and effort given to ensure a healthier environment for all to live in.

Organic clothing and recycled clothing are good ways to treat our earth in a friendly manner and at the same time be fashionable and hip with friends. The styles available range from plain white t-shirts, polo shirts and hats as well as many other articles.

The cotton that is used in eco-friendly clothing is organic. This means it has not been treated with pesticides and chemicals. These are the very same chemicals that were used in World War II as toxic gas! Conventional cotton is all about growing cotton as quickly as possible and not about helping keep the environment healthy. Other materials used in our attempt to be in harmony with nature are bamboo (because it needs no bleaching), plastic and recycled fleece. Polyester was used a lot and it still is but has been found to create toxic emissions that pollute the air and water.

Organic clothing is also more affordable than conventional clothing when you think of durability. The clothing made from cotton that is produced with chemicals, breaks down much quicker and has to be replaced more often. With all the dying, bleaching and added chemicals, the material is broken down even before purchasing or wearing. The eco-friendly clothing is strong when you purchase it because it hasn’t been through the rigorous processing stages of conventional clothing. So, therefore it will save a lot of money and does not need to be replaced nearly as often.

Cheap quality clothes made in production plants play no role in reducing pollution and reducing waste. It’s about putting out as many items as possible to capitalize on the market with no real concern for the environment. Everyone is concerned about leaving carbon footprints and the natural method is the wiser choice. Saving money is a topic everyone can relate as well as saving the earth!

Computers, clocks, and televisions are a few of the upcoming green gadgets in 2011.

Dell has announced the Dell Studio Hybrid as their newest green computer. With the studio hybrid you can do anything from playing games, build your own website, or even some video editing. It uses an Intel Core Duo Processor, which the company said used 75% less written documentation then other desktops. They come in a vivid array of colors such as Piano Black, True Blue, Pure White, Formula Red, Tangerine Orange, Promise Pink, Spring Green, and Plum Purple. Dell packs their desktops in recyclable materials.

The Bedol Water-Powered Clock is an inexpensive way to go green. The clock runs on salty water, which corrodes the clocks electrodes causing them to generate electricity. This green gadget comes in a variety of shapes and colors to fit your homes décor.

Phillips has made an Eco friendly television, which features a dimming back light. Sensors built into the TV adjust the televisions back light as they sense the room is dimming. The Eco TV consumes less power than its LCD counter parts.

Nokia has made the Nokia 3110 Evolve, a cell phone that draws less power when it is charging. It will let you talk for up to four hours without charging the battery. It will last up to 370 hours in standby. This phone is made of biodegradable materials.

If you are into hiking or camping, the Voltaic Solar Back Pack is the one you need. It has a detachable solar pack that allows you to charge your cell phone or I pod when you reach your destination. The solar pack is detachable so you can attach it to another bag, bike or where you need it.

Re-chargeable batteries save landfills, but they still have to use a charger. A new kind of re-chargeable AA battery is the Mint Battery. It has an internal coil and magnet, which creates an electrical current when a person shakes the battery.

A new solar charger is the Solio Universal Hybrid Charger. This little charger is compatible for over 3,200 devices. It gets it power from the sun, but it comes with a USB cable to plug into your PC.

The Battery BOS, so named because its size is like a bar of soap, attaches to your bike. After four or five miles of riding, it is charged and ready to use. It features a LED light for night, a battery full indicator, and a disable slide switch.

An amazing gadget is the Amazon’s Kindle 2. This gadget stores an entire library of books, which saves on paper. It also eliminates the need to go to the Library, which saves fuel.

Robotics are becoming useful and energy saving. The Solar Breeze is a pool skimmer that runs on solar power. It catches the debris in the pool water before it has a chance to sink. The Robomower is another robotic gadget that uses no fuel, so there are no emissions. The re-chargeable mower runs on a guide wire system that mows the boundaries of your yard. When the mowing is complete, it returns to its charging station. It has built in sensor so it will go around obstacles.

Green products are very popular now, especially with everyone trying to be more energy efficient. If you pick wisely, you could stand to make a lot of money through stock investments in these companies.  Currently, a good investment strategy is to go long on the best technology penny stocks since the “going green” trend is so popular and there is nothing but growth for these companies in the foreseeable future. In any case, investing in green companies and the products they make is a trend that should be watched closely for 2011. These green gadgets are within the top 20 of the upcoming green gadgets of 2011.

10 Ways to Be More Green

Jul 06

People everywhere are looking for ways to help save the environment by going green. There are many ways to help in our attempt to do our share and to contribute in some way. A person doesn’t have to go overboard in attempting to do everything to go green. Small things can make a huge impact!

One way is by ride-sharing. This cuts pollution down and saves on natural resources such as gas and oil. We can also help by riding bikes or walking when we can. We not only cut down on pollution we are getting healthier all at the same time.

Another way to cut back on energy costs is to unplug our electronics when they are not in use. You wouldn’t think this one little step could make a big difference, but it does when we all work together to make changes. Many people don’t realize that even though the appliance is turned off, if it is plugged in it still requires electricity. Unplug the radios and televisions and any other electronics that aren’t in use.

By cutting back on the time we spend in the shower we can save hundreds of gallons of water. Most people take their time in the shower and don’t realize how many hundreds of gallons of water are being wasted. Turning the water off while brushing teeth and while rinsing dishes is also a good way to cut back and conserve water. You can save so much water by following this advice.

By switching to compact fluorescent light bulbs we can save hundreds of dollars each year while conserving energy. The new LED lights have a tremendous life span. Many are transitioning to the new low wattage bulbs and it is not only helping the environment conserves energy but it is saving hundreds each year out of their wallets.

Try to buy items with less wrapping and packaging. Thousands of pounds of waste are polluting the earth each day. Try to purchase items with little or no packaging and that will disintegrate quickly. Most packaging material can be recycled. It’s normally paper and plastic. Some companies are taking recycled water bottles and soda bottles and shredding them very finely and it makes a material that they are using for stuffing in toys, pillows, bean bags and many other items! Companies are especially “going green” at expos and they show it by using an eco friendly Amsterdam Printing tradeshow giveaway such as custom pens, notepads and other gifts.

Eliminate paper waste and reduce your junk mail clutter by storing things digitally. For instance, by putting all your pictures on disc, you are saving tons of paper and ink. The savings is unbelievable. It takes way less space and uses much less paper for a fraction of the cost.

When you can, purchase organically grown food from local vendors. Purchasing items without pesticides and steroids is a great step in going green. It is not only healthier but normally the packaging is limited and it helps the local economy to flourish. It isn’t possible to go completely green and to do it perfectly, but we can do our part by using the steps mentioned!
